At Carpet Discount Warehouse, we coordinate carpet installation services for both residential and commercial projects, connecting customers with experienced carpet installers who manage the process from site preparation through final cleanup. How the Carpet Installation Process Works

Each of our projects follows a structured process to help ensure the carpet is properly fitted and performs well over time.

Step 1: Consultation and Measurement

Every project starts with a conversation. You can visit our showroom at 6100 E Independence Blvd in Charlotte or reach out online. Our flooring consultants, many of whom have been with Carpet Discount Warehouse for years, will walk through your space type, timeline, and goals before anything is measured or ordered. Measurements are taken or verified to confirm material quantities and layout planning.

Step 2: Subfloor Check

Before any carpet goes down, we inspect the subfloor to detect and address any unevenness, damage, or debris that could affect the finished result. If our team detects any issues, we will let you know. Any repairs must be made before our team can proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Layout Planning and Seam Placement

Our installers plan the layout before cutting begins. Seam placement is carefully considered to minimize visibility and align with the room’s dimensions and natural traffic flow.

Step 4: Padding Installation

Carpet padding is installed before the carpet itself. The right padding improves comfort underfoot, supports the carpet’s structure, and helps extend the flooring's overall lifespan. The padding type is matched to the selected carpet and the space's demands.

Step 5: Carpet Installation and Stretching

We cut, position, and secure the carpet throughout the space. Power stretching is used to pull the carpet taut and prevent buckling, rippling, or premature wear. Proper stretching is a technical requirement that significantly affects how the carpet holds up over time and is a standard part of every installation we coordinate.

Our installation partners have been with us for more than 25 years, so when they arrive at your home or commercial space in Charlotte, they bring a level of consistency that a rotating crew cannot.

Step 6: Finishing and Cleanup

Edges are trimmed, transitions between flooring types are finished, and doorways are addressed so all areas meet cleanly. Once installation is complete, the work area is cleaned and left ready for everyday use.

What to Expect After Installation

Once installation is complete, you will have a finished floor that has been power-stretched, edge-trimmed, and cleaned, ready for furniture and everyday use. Most residential projects in the Charlotte area are completed within the timeline discussed at the consultation. Because we stock thousands of carpet rolls in our 50,000 sq ft warehouse at Independence Blvd, many projects move from selection to installation within 3 to 7 days.

Residential and Commercial Carpet Installation

Residential Carpet Installation

Homeowners choose professional installation for bedrooms, living rooms, basements, stairs, and other living spaces. Residential projects typically prioritize comfort, appearance, and a finish that complements the home's design. Our team helps coordinate installations that fit both the space and the household’s day-to-day demands.

We work with homeowners across the Charlotte metro, from South End and Plaza Midwood to Huntersville, Concord, Matthews, and Mint Hill. Whether you are replacing a single bedroom or re-carpeting an entire home, our team manages the process from selection at our showroom through final installation.

Commercial Carpet Installation

Businesses, property managers, and building owners rely on professional carpet installers for offices, retail spaces, multifamily units, and hospitality environments. Commercial projects often require tighter coordination around scheduling and space access, as well as carpet selections built for heavy traffic and long-term durability. Our team works with commercial clients to manage these requirements throughout the project.

Charlotte-area property managers, general contractors, and business owners have trusted us for multi-unit and commercial projects since 1990. Our warehouse depth and long-standing installer relationships mean we can handle volume projects efficiently without sacrificing the attention to detail that smaller jobs demand.

Additionally, we also offer residential and commercial flooring installation.

Why Professional Installation Matters

The quality of installation directly affects how the carpet performs and how long it lasts. Even high-quality carpet can develop problems over time if it is not installed correctly.

  • Longevity — properly installed carpet wears more evenly and is less likely to need early replacement
  • Appearance — clean seams, tight stretching, and finished edges contribute to a polished look throughout the flooring's life.
  • Warranty protection — many carpet manufacturers require professional installation to keep the product warranty valid.
  • Subfloor compatibility — professionals identify and address subfloor issues before they create problems under the finished floor. If repairs are necessary, they must be fixed before we can proceed to next steps
  • Precision and efficiency — experienced installers complete projects accurately and with equipment that is difficult to replicate without proper training
  • Local accountability — you are not dealing with a national chain or a subcontractor you will never see again. Our team and installation partners are based here, and we stand behind the work we coordinate.

Our team at Carpet Discount Warehouse works with installation professionals who have experience across a wide range of project types and environments. We coordinate the process so each job is handled cleanly and efficiently from the first consultation through final review.

What’s Not Included

To set clear expectations, the following are generally outside the scope of standard carpet installation services.

  • Furniture moving — furniture moving is handled by our crew and priced as a separate line item in your quote. Prefer to handle it yourself before we arrive? We can remove it from your estimate — just let us know during your consultation.
  • Removal and disposal of existing carpet — removal and disposal of your old carpet and pad is also itemized separately, so you know exactly what you're paying for. If you'd rather handle disposal on your own, we can remove that cost from your quote.
  • Structural subfloor repairs — significant subfloor damage beyond standard preparation may require a separate contractor before installation
  • Carpet selection — product selection is handled separately through our product consultation process before scheduling installation.

If you have questions about what is and isn't included in your specific project, contact us; our team is happy to walk through the details before you commit to anything.
